Rodney D Hunt

Senior Research Staff

Over the past fifteen years, Dr. Rodney Hunt’s research has focused on the preparation of spherical nuclear fuel using the internal gelation process. Due to Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s unique resources, Northwest Nuclear Isotopes and NASA have placed sole source contracts for uranium microspheres for different applications. Recently, the Department of Energy awarded up to $80,000,000 to the X-energy XE-100 Pebble Bed Reactor Concept Development proposal, which included Dr. Hunt as a primary participant. Dr Hunt has 65 peer reviewed publications and 4 U.S. patents.
