Matthias M Lorenz

Research Scientist (University of Tennessee)

Matthias has a background in Mass Spectrometry Imaging (MSI) and works in the Chemical Imaging team at the Center for Nanophase Materials Sciences (CNMS). He received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Wuppertal (Germany) in 2010 for studies on the advancement of laser-based photoionization in atmospheric pressure mass spectrometry. Following postdoctoral training at ORNL from 2011 to 2014, Matthias worked as staff research scientist at the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) in the UK from 2014 to 2017. He joined the CNMS in 2017. His research interests include the advancement of mass spectrometry based chemical imaging techniques, the multimodal combination of chemical and physical imaging modalities, and the development of photo- and post-ionization strategies in the field of mass spectrometry.
