Dr. Les A. Hook is a research staff member in the Environmental Sciences Division and the Climate Change Science Institute of ORNL where he serves as a Data Management and Documentation Coordinator for multiple environmental data collection and archiving projects. He brings expertise and technical skills for data policy, management, and archive planning and implementation.
Data and Documentation Coordinator, NASA-sponsored Distributed Active Archive Center (DAAC) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Environmental Sciences Division. Responsible for archiving DAAC datasets -- interact with investigators to obtain data, QA data and formats, assign metadata, and develop and review documentation for public access.
Data and Documentation Coordinator for US Department of Energy, Terrestrial Ecosystem Science funded projects. Currently supporting ORNL TES-SFA and SPRUCE and NGEE Arctic projects. Responsible for planning and implementing data management workflows for collecting, managing, archiving and sharing data and metadata thru project data systems and in due course the final DOE archive. Working with website developers, he has developed and maintains task-specific websites with project information, resources, and public data access.
