Bio
Kalie Knecht, Ph.D., is an Applied Data Scientist in the Advanced Detection and Applied Data Science group at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Tennessee and a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
Her work centers on applying machine learning and autonomous systems to radiation detection and nuclear nonproliferation challenges. She develops AI-enabled methods for radiation source identification, anomaly detection, and robotic search, integrating spectroscopy, computer vision, and environmental mapping to advance next-generation detection technologies.
