Isotope Production Analytical Chemist - Technical Professional

Joshua K. Saggio joined Oak Ridge National Laboratory in 2025 as an Isotope Production Analytical Chemist in the Transuranium Analytical Laboratory (TAL) within the Chemical Sciences Division (CSD). Previously at Thermo Fisher Scientific, he was a subject-matter expert in lipid nanoparticle (LNP) formulation, tangential flow filtration (TFF), filtration and clean-in-place (CIP) systems, and the commissioning, qualification, and validation (CQV) of sterile manufacturing suites. He built and led an eight-person process engineering team and directed start-up for bulk drug product operations—defining skid operating parameters, conducting verification testing, driving process improvements, and supporting construction closeout and CQV for aseptic fill/finish and lyophilization areas. At Pfizer, he contributed to COVID-19 vaccine formulation and GMP operations, leading incident response and investigations, implementing CAPAs, and authoring SOPs, OJTs, and job aids while harmonizing technical practices across global sites. He began his career as a vaccine process technician and chemistry lab assistant, developing a strong foundation in analytical methods and laboratory operations. Joshua holds a BS in Chemistry with a minor in Mathematics from Adrian College and is committed to safety, quality, and knowledge transfer through hands-on training and mentorship.
