Research and Development Staff
Dr. Jinan Yang joined Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) in January 2016 as a R&D staff member in the Radiation Transport (RT) Group.
Prior to joining ORNL, Jinan worked as a core neutronic analyst in the Traveling Wave Reactor (TWR) core design group at TerraPower, LLC. Her earlier work experiences also include staff position in the Monte Carlo Method Group at the China Institute of Atomic Energy (CIAE) in Beijing; national exchange scientist to Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) O-Arai Engineering Center; research staff position at Nippon Advanced Information Service (NAIS) Co. Inc. in Tokai-Mura, Japan; and postdoc research fellow at the University of Michigan.
Her research interests include hybrid Monte Carlo/deterministic methods, Monte Carlo variance reduction techniques, Monte Carlo and deterministic radiation transport modeling, sodium-cooled fast breeder reactor analysis and design, uncertainty quantification of reactor design parameters, and modeling automation of large-scale complex systems.
