Briana R Schrage

R&D Radiochemist

Briana Schrage is an R&D radiochemist in the Radiochemical Process Development group in the Radioisotope Science & Technology Division supporting isotope production and fundamental research. Briana Schrage earned her Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Akron under the guidance of Prof. Christopher J. Ziegler, where her research focused on developing novel functional dyes and systems for redox flow battery applications. From there, she joined The University of Tennessee, where she worked as a postdoctoral associate under Prof. Victor N. Nemykin on the design and application of functional dyes. Briana then joined the Chemical Separations Group at ORNL as a postdoctoral research associate under the guidance of Dr. Nikki Thiele, where she worked on chelation platforms for Auger-emitting radioisotopes. In 2023, she accepted a research staff position in the Radiochemical Process Development group. Her current work focuses on R&D efforts toward ORNL's Plutonium-238 Supply Program as well as fundamental coordination chemistry and analytical methodology. Recently, Briana took over the processing of nickel-63.
