Benjamin E Lewis Jr

Benjamin (Ben) E Lewis is a senior manager at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), where he leads the Nuclear Materials Processing Group in the Nuclear Security and Isotope Technology Division and serves as the Research and Development manager at the Radiochemical Engineering Development Center. Mr. Lewis has held a variety of leadership roles at ORNL throughout his 40 year career. He has completed the course work toward a Ph. D. in Chemical Engineering and holds a M.S. degree in Engineering Administration/Management from The University of Tennessee and a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from Tennessee Technological University. He has authored and/or co-authored 83 technical reports and articles, and has presented papers at meetings of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and American Nuclear Society as well as for other corporate and sponsor organizations. He is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, Phi Kappa Phi, Theta Tau, and is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Tennessee. Mr. Lewis has conducted research and development and has served in various project and program management roles in the areas of nuclear fuel cycle, radioisotope production, environmental management and restoration, homeland security, and alternate energy sources. He also holds two patents for inventions related to his work on alternate energy sources and environmental management/tank waste remediation.
