Bio
Beau Ballard is a radiochemist whose career spans more than two decades of contributions to nuclear chemistry, isotope production, radiochemical separations, and nuclear materials analysis. He currently serves as a R&D Staff member in the RMAL group. Before joining the RMAL at ORNL, Beau held the position of Research Technical Lead at Idaho National Laboratory (INL), providing comprehensive oversight of research activities, ensuring alignment with DOE Conduct of Operations requirements while mentoring researchers and maintaining high technical standards.
His scientific output includes a U.S. patent for a ⁷²Se/⁷²As generator system and numerous peer‑reviewed publications spanning radionuclide production, radiochemical separations, nuclear data, and targeted radiotherapy. He has also delivered invited lectures and presented at major national and international conferences in radiochemistry, nuclear data, and isotope production.
Education
Dr. Ballard earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Missouri, where his research centered on phosphine chelates and rhodium complexes for therapeutic radiopharmaceutical applications. He holds a B.Sc. in Chemistry with a biochemistry concentration from Southwest Missouri State University.
