Anthony W King

Senior Research Scientist

Dr. Anthony W. King is a Research Staff Member in the Environmental Sciences Division and Climate Change Science Institute of Oak Ridge National Laboratory.  “Tony” received his Ph.D. in Ecology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 1986 and joined Oak Ridge National Laboratory in 1987.  With over 30 years of experience in ecosystem science, theory and modeling, Dr. King has more recently been involved in modeling leaf and canopy processes, scientific synthesis and assessment in support of decision making and the assessment of climate impacts on coupled socio-ecological systems, including the impacts of sea-level rise on military and urban infrastructure and climate change impacts and adaptation in agricultural systems.

Dr. King’s research interests include terrestrial carbon cycle/ecosystem modeling, leaf and canopy process, impact of climate change on ecological and social systems, terrestrial ecosystems as part of the global Earth system, theory of scale and system organization in ecology, landscape ecology and spatial demography, land-use change, model sensitivity and uncertainty analysis, and model evaluation.
