Abstract
This document is a compilation of best practices guides for hydropower facility component operation and maintenance. The component documents were originally authored primarily by hydropower engineering experts of Mesa and Associates under sub-contract to UT-Battelle as part of the Hydropower Advancement Project (HAP) funded by the Department of Energy Wind and Waterpower Technologies Office in 2012-2013. The best practices guides were disseminated informally during that time and have been shared informally since that time but were never published by ORNL through its Resolution or Pulication Tracking System processes because the HAP was terminated abruptly by DOE. This compilation represents a formal doucment and publication of the HAP Best Practices Guides. The information they contain was intended from the beginning of the project to be disseminated publicly for the benefit of U.S. and worldwide hydropower operation and maintenance practices.
