ORNL's Szybist elected SAE International fellow

OAK RIDGE, Tenn., Nov. 16, 2017 – Jim Szybist, senior researcher at the Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory, has been elected fellow of SAE International, the highest grade of membership for this global association of 128,000 engineers and technical experts in the aerospace, automotive and commercial-vehicle industries.

Szybist, who works in the laboratory's Energy & Transportation Science Division, was recognized for his "leadership and distinctive contributions to understanding the complex relationship and impacts of fuel properties, fuel chemistry, and the combustion process on engine efficiency and emissions for advanced spark-ignition, diesel and low temperature combustion modes."

Szybist has a doctorate in fuel science from Penn State University.
