Topic:

OAK RIDGE, Tenn., Sept. 18, 2015 – The Department of Industry’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory will host Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Industry Day Wednesday, Sept. 23 and Thursday, Sept. 24.

Johney Green, director of ORNL’s Energy and Transportation Science Division, said Laboratory researchers will interact with representatives from industry and small business about new energy efficient innovations ORNL is developing.

“Industry Day is one of the tech to market initiatives and activities and we’re going to have about 300 people here from buildings, manufacturing and transportation,” Green said. “We’ve also got four EERE offices represented. We have the technologies office, advanced manufacturing, vehicle technologies and fuel cell technologies. “

A special energy efficiency technology will be demonstrated.

“We’re 3-D printing a house and also a car,” Green said. “We’re going to connect them together and show how they can share energy. We’re also going to share how labs can rapidly innovate and work very well with industry. We have over 20 partners working with us on the demonstration project. That’s just an example of rapid innovation and industry collaboration.”

David Danielson, DOE’s assistant secretary for energy efficiency and renewable energy, will be among the participants at Industry Day.

UT-Battelle manages ORNL for the DOE’s Office of Science. The Office of Science is the single largest supporter of basic research in the physical sciences in the United States, and is working to address some of the most pressing challenges of our time.
