Anne Campbell, an R&D staff member in the Advanced Nuclear Materials Group in the Materials Science and Technology Division at the Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory, has been elected vice chair of the Composite Materials Committee of The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS). The appointment begins a six-year leadership term in which Campbell will serve two years each as vice chair, chair and past chair.

TMS is an international professional organization representing more than 12,000 members who work to advance the science and engineering of materials, from minerals processing and primary metals production to cutting-edge applications in aerospace, energy and manufacturing.

Within TMS, the Composite Materials Committee brings together researchers, engineers and industry specialists to exchange ideas, promote innovation and recognize excellence in the development and use of composite materials.

As vice chair, Campbell will help guide the committee’s technical programs and symposia, coordinate member activities, and support initiatives that encourage collaboration across academic, government and industrial sectors. The role also includes helping plan TMS annual meeting sessions, identifying emerging research themes, and mentoring newer members who wish to become more active in professional service.
