Urban Dynamics Institute Seminar: How Big Data and Machine Learning are Disrupting the Transportation and Energy Industries

Presenter

  • Maria Araujo, Southwest Research Institute, San Antonio, Texas
January 30, 2018 - 11:00am to 12:00pm

Abstract

The speaker will discuss how machine learning and big data are influencing the transportation and energy industries and will present the challenges that have been overcome and those still to be overcome. She will discuss how big data and machine learning can be used to solve existing problems in advanced fleet management and route optimization, emissions quantification, power train optimization, intake efficiency, catalyst efficiency, and identification of patterns in component failures to decrease service downtime.
