- John Turner (CSED) and Edgar Lara-Curzio (MSTD)
On September 19, 2017, DOE officially announced HPC4Materials (HPC4Mtls), a new program modeled after the HPC4Manufacturing (HPC4Mfg) program. HPC4Mfg, sponsored by the DOE EERE Advanced Manufacturing Office, is currently in its fourth solicitation, and multiple ORNL-led projects are currently under way. Originally a joint effort between LLNL, LBNL, and ORNL, HPC4Mfg has gradually expanded and now funds projects with principal investigators at other labs as well.
Sponsored by the DOE Office of Fossil Energy, with support from multiple additional offices such as Vehicle Technologies and Nuclear Energy, HPC4Mtls is being led by NETL, LLNL, LANL, and ORNL. In this meeting, Edgar Lara-Curzio, who is serving as the ORNL lead for HPC4Mtls, and John Turner, who is serving as the ORNL lead for HPC4Mfg and HPC4EnergyInnovation, will provide information on the current status of HPC4Mtls, upcoming events such as a workshop next week, and plans for a solicitation in the near future and how we can prepare for it. The presenters will also explain the relationship between HPC4EnergyInnovation, the multiple HPC4 pillars, and possibilities for additional pillars.
