Super Star! Vol. #1 was produced for Fusion Energy Week 2025 as educational material for the Children's Festival of Reading, an event by the Knox County Public Library.
In this issue, Sol the Sun takes young readers into the cosmos to talk about the Sun and stars, how they work, and how they effect life on Earth. It explores what plasma is, how it forms, and where it can be seen on Earth, as well as how humans are exploring how to harness it to create fusion energy. It is intended for readers grades K-5, but can be enjoyed by all – plus there's a word search on the back!
Super Star! Vol. #2 introduces the readers to Ash Helios, a helium atom, who delves into the world of fusion energy and how to create "a star in a jar." The comic touches on atoms and isotopes, how fusion devices work, the different components in a tokamak, and the benefits of fusion energy, as well as the fusion research ORNL is performing all over the world.
Vol. 2 was produced in Fall 2025. It is intended for readers grades 6-12.
