Ron Ott new Manager of Building Technologies Program
Ron received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Materials Engineering from the University of Alabama, Birmingham. He completed his Ph.D. work at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) in 1997 through the High Temperature Materials Laboratory graduate fellowship program and returned as staff in 1999.
Ron was instrumental in the creation of the Manufacturing Demonstration Facility at ORNL, as well as developing technologies in low cost sensors and flexible electronics. He has been in multiple management positions at ORNL. His most recent management role was the Deputy Director for the Energy & Transportation Science Division, where he gained tremendous work experience with the Building Technologies Program managers as well as research staff. He has worked directly with the DOE EERE program managers and EERE Programs in developing materials and manufacturing initiatives associated with the Clean Energy Manufacturing Initiative. Ron has over 40 publications, holds seven patents (or patent applications), two R&D 100 Awards, and received an Award of Excellence in Technology Transfer from the Federal Laboratory Consortium for Technology Transfer.
