The Office of Research Education (ORE) leads Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s student and faculty educational programs. ORE connects participants to mission-driven work across science, engineering and professional disciplines, strengthening both the laboratory’s culture and the nation’s workforce pipeline.
Each year, ORNL welcomes hundreds of interns and research participants from high schools, colleges and universities across the country and around the world. Through structured internships, research collaborations and faculty engagement programs, participants contribute to active laboratory initiatives while gaining experience in a national laboratory environment.
ORE partners with ORNL researchers and operational leaders to ensure educational experiences are aligned with laboratory priorities and grounded in ORNL’s core values of impact, integrity, teamwork, safety and service. Programs are designed to provide meaningful technical engagement, professional development and exposure to premier research facilities.
Through sustained investment in educational programs, ORNL develops future scientists, engineers and technical professionals while advancing discovery and innovation in support of the Department of Energy mission.
