Summary
The Computational Hydrology and Atmospheric Sciences (CHAS) Group advances predictive understanding of interactions among the coupled atmosphere, ocean, land, and cryosphere, together with subsurface processes that influence energy and water systems. The group integrates process-based Earth-system and hydrologic models with modern AI/ML, large foundation models, uncertainty quantification and leadership-class computing, fostering interdisciplinary collaborations.
Mission
To advance predictive understanding of the Earth’s interconnected systems, spanning atmosphere, ocean, land, cryosphere, and subsurface, through process-based modeling, high-performance computing, and AI/ML innovation, enabling actionable insights for energy, water, and environmental resilience.
