The Si14H20 molecule

The silanes, SiH4 and larger, are a useful laboratory for the study of electronic excitations. Accurate but computationally expensive benchmark calculations are used to test less expensive but more approximate methods. These methods can later be applied to large scale nanostructures with a realistic estimate of their accuracy.
