The Si₁₄H₂₀ molecule

The silanes, SiH₄ and larger, are a useful laboratory for the study of electronic excitations. Accurate but computationally expensive benchmark calculations are used to test less expensive but more approximate methods. These methods can later be applied to large scale nanostructures with a realistic estimate of their accuracy.
