Localized state at C_2v symmetry nitrogen triplet in GaP

This structure and localized state were predicted as being the "next cluster state" that would be observed in GaPN, as the nitrogen concentration was increased. An energy in good agreement with experiment was found. However, proof of the symmetry would require difficult uniaxial pressure experiments, so we may never be certain. If true, experiment and theory have together produced good evidence that these materials are somewhat non-random, an important precision for materials and device modeling.
