Localized states around nitrogen pairs in GaP
Initially observed during the 1970s, the science of dilute nitrides was reinvigorated when growth techniques improved to the point that a few percent nitrogen could be incorporated in GaP and GaAs. These states are visible as sharp lines in photoluminescence. I predicted and identified the triplet state in GaP. Understanding these eventually led to an understanding of the GaAsN and GaPN alloys.
