The following was received from the SC18 Secretariat:

The vote of the UK on SC 18 N 5399, NP for Standard HTML, was mistakenly not recorded by my assistant. I am not planning to reissue the ballot results because the UK vote does not change the results of the ballot. However, I will send out their late vote as an SC 18 document if they feel it is necessary. Their comments are as follows:

UK Comments on ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC18N5399 - NWI Proposal on Standard HTML

The UK DISAPPROVES submitting the NWI Proposal to JTC1 for ballot for the reasons stated below. The UK considers that the User Requirements contained in SC18 N5401 do not satisfy the UK's understanding of what the proposed project should seek to achieve. The UK considers that the currently worded proposal, which attempts to standardize a fast changing document type definition, would be impossible. (Note that the title of 18N5401 is incorrect.)

While the UK would look favourably on an approach based on assigning architectural forms to non-HTML elements to identify their relationship with HTML, it will not vote for acceptance of the current proposal.
