Fallout Planning Tool


Problem Statement:

  • Implement a standalone and Web-deployable tool which accurately depicts the location of nuclear debris concentrations suitable for forensics analysis and the dose to the collector tasked to retrieve forensic samples. Automate the planning of forensic collection missions.

Technical Approach:

  • Wrapped the DELFIC model with ReSTful Web services and components for visualizing DELFIC outputs.  Developed components for managing mission routes, computing accumulated dose, and generating route visualizations. Visualizations generated in KML for temporal domain tagging.  Implement mobile device (Android) apps as well as Web and desktop user interfaces.

Benefit:

  • Field-deployable desktop application as well as Web and mobile apps for planning forensic sample collection missions. Fallout modeling outputs useful for forensic analysis and consequence management.
