Radiation Detection Materials and Systems

ORNL’s Nuclear Material Detection and Characterization programs are at the forefront of providing next-generation, deployable active and passive gamma and neutron imaging systems for airports, border crossings, buildings, seaports, and roadsides, while continuing to support safeguards and treaty verification applications. Our research and development capability was recently upgraded to include a new materials laboratory where unique radiation detection scintillation materials are grown and tested. Recognized as a key system operational test and evaluation provider, we perform theoretical, modeling, and computational support as integral parts of our development cycle. From conceptual design to system deployment our goal is to provide a cost-effective solution that meets or exceeds our customer’s expectations.
