Genome Management Information System

More About GMIS: The Genome Management Information System (GMIS) provides technical communication and information expertise for the DOE Office of Biological and Environmental Research (OBER, formerly Office of Health and Environmental Research, OHER) Genome Programs Task Group. GMIS makes genome project science and social implications accessible to a diverse audience, including:

  • scientists who use genome data and tools to gain greater understanding of biological systems;
  • translators of genomics to medical applications;
  • other professionals and the genomics-impacted public who need such information to develop informed policies and make personal decisions; and
  • students.

GMIS publishes the newsletter Human Genome News, genome program reports, and several websites pertaining to genetics, the Human Genome Project, and microbial genome research.
