SCALE6 Update for Windows

Description of Update 
----------------------------
This update contains corrections for several unrelated problems in the initial 
Windows version of SCALE 6 as distributed on the RSICC DVDs.

GeeWiz GUI:
This update (Feb. 18 2009) corrects several minor errors in GeeWiz 6.0.2 (Jan. 
30 2009) distributed with SCALE 6. Problems noted with the original version 
included 
(1) failure to read some valid CSAS/KENO input files and 
(2) extraneous ResponseID data written in a MAVRIC/Monaco input file. 
These errors were due to some uninitialized variables stored in the CSAS/KENO 
object memory, and unresolved logic error in the MAVRIC/Monaco GeeWiz code base.

OrigenArp Windows GUI:
The version of the OrigenArp Windows GUI in SCALE 6 is 5.1.01, which is the 
same as the latest update for SCALE 5.1. This update corrects 2 problems that 
occur because OrigenArp was not updated for changes in SCALE 6.

1) OrigenArp attempts to call SCALE with the batch5 command from SCALE 5.1 
instead of the batch6 command from SCALE 6. 

2) In SCALE 6, the plot files created by OPUS contain 4 more digits than the 
files in SCALE 5.1. Clicking on the Plot button in OrigenArp generates an error 
message that no plot files were found. The fix copies the plot files and removes
"0000" from each file name. You will have two copies of the plot files with the
shorter 5.1 and longer 6.0 file names.

PFE Text Editor:
The Programmer's File Editor (PFE) was inadvertently omitted from the SCALE 6 
installation DVDs. This update installs PFE to \pfe on the same drive where 
SCALE 6 is installed. This is the same version that was distributed in SCALE 
5.1.

"Run SCALE6" Shortcut
The "Run SCALE6" shortcut points to SCALE 5.1 for the icon. If SCALE 5.1 is not 
installed, the SCALE icon does not appear. This corrected shortcut points to
c:\scale6\scale.ico for the icon. You will need to manually copy the shortcut 
from \scale6\shortcuts to your desktop SCALE6 folder.


Installation of Update
---------------------- 
Download and run scale6-windows_update.exe. Specify the drive where you 
have previously installed SCALE 6 and click Unzip button. Do not include the 
full path - it will automatically be added by the installation program.
