SCALE 5.1 MIPLIB Update for Dancoff Factor Correction 25 June 2007 Updated: 4 September 2007 (Includes updates for BONAMIST, CSAS, CSAS6, MODIFY, NEWT, PMC, STARBUCS, TRITON, TRITON6, TSUNAMI-1D, and TSUNAMI-3D) UPDATED 4 Sept. 2007: It was discovered on Aug. 31 that the TRITON6 executable of 6/21/07 was not linked correctly and produced an error message in KENO-VI when running a training class problem. A "clean" was performed on TRITON6 and a new executable was created on 9/4/07. NOTE: This download is recommended for all SCALE 5.1 users. It contains updates previously posted on the SCALE website for BONAMIST and TRITON/NEWT/PMC/MIPLIB as well as the updates discussed below. The following updates have been made to the Material Information Processor Library (MIPLIB) in SCALE: (1) An error in the calculation of Dancoff factors for clad regions was introduced in SCALE 5.0. This error only affects calculations that use LATTICECELL cell types and the NITAWL resonance processing module. Approximately 180 LWR and MOX fuel critical benchmarks were run with and without the correction. On average, the difference in the calculated keff values was 0.01% with a maximum of 0.18%, indicating that the effect on previous calculations is negligible (within statistical uncertainty). (2) The calculation of zone volumes as well as periodic boundary conditions and non-zero left boundary locations for slabs were also corrected. These errors also had negligible impact on calculated k-eff values. Installation instructions ------------------------- The updates are now included with the CENTRMST update on www.ornl.gov/sci/scale/centrmst_update.htm. See the README file there for instructions on how to download and install.
