SCALE Files for Foreign Language Versions of Windows Dec. 18, 2001 As described in the README.DOC file ("Foreign Language Windows Users") on the SCALE 4.4a installation CD, the LANGUAGE.DAT file must be modified for foreign language versions of Windows. In addition, the QATABLE file for your version of Windows (i.e., QATABLE.NT, QATABLE.95, QATABLE.98, QATABLE.2000, QATABLE.ME, QATABLE.XP) must also be updated. This change is necessary because the UPDATEQA.BAT and SCALE44.BAT files automatically determine which version of Windows you are running and copy the appropriate format file (e.g., QATABLE.NT, QATABLE.95, etc.) to QATABLE. For example, in the original QATABLE.NT file for Windows NT, the date of the modules is given in the format mm/dd/yy but the DIR command in the German version results in dd.mm.yy. So the format has to be changed by editing QATABLE.NT. The "foreign_language_files.zip" file contains French and German versions of LANGUAGE.DAT (courtesy of Anne de L'Hermite and Wolfgang Tippl) and a German version of QATABLE.NT (this may work for other languages or versions that use a dd.mm.yy format). The files for your language should be installed to the \SCALE4.4a\DATA directory and renamed LANGUAGE.DAT and QATABLE.xx, where xx is the abbreviation of your Windows version (e.g., NT, 95, etc.).
