SPI- SPUF Wall - Steel stud wall with installed Sprayed Polyurethane Foam

The conventional steel-framed wall was constructed using 3.5-in. solid web 18 gauge steel studs 24-in. o.c. Next, sprayed polyurethane foam (SPF) was installed inside wall cavity ( appr. thickness 3/4-in.) and over the surface of the metal studs (appr. thickness 1/2-in.).

The thickness of the SPUF foam varied between 0.375 and 1-in. and for the measured part of the wall area average thickness of SPF was about 0.73-in. Later, this wall was insulated with R-11 fiberglass batts. Exterior surface of the wall was finished with ½-in. thick layer of OSB. On the interior surface of the tested wall, ½-in. thick gypsum boards were installed.
