Rastra Wall Systems with EPS Beads Concrete Forms

Description Of Wall

Rastra is a 10-in. thick concrete form system made of a lightweight concrete, which provides a permanent framework for a grid of reinforced concrete that forms load-bearing walls, shear walls, stem walls, lintels, retaining walls, and other components of a building. Rastra wall forms are made of light weight EPS beads’ concrete of density about 20 to 30 lb/ft 3. At the construction side, Rastra lightweight concrete forms are filled with high-density reinforced structural concrete.

During September 1998, a 8x8-ft Rastra wall was hot-box tested at ORNL BTC utilizing ASTM C236-89 experimental procedure. Normally, the Rastra wall is covered by lightweight stucco on the outside and plaster on the inside, however, hot-box testing an unfinished wall was utilized.
