Polychlorinated Biphenyls
(PCB)

Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB's) are often included in the analytical classification with the pesticides, because the methods for analysis are similar; however remediation for PCB's requires stringent procedures.  These compounds have been used in fluorescent light ballasts and in many older type electrical insulations.  PCB's are considered potential carcinogens.  The analysis is accomplished using a GC with an electron capture detector.
