- ORNL Z-contrast microscope first to resolve, identify individual light atoms
Mar 25, 2010 - Using the latest in aberration-corrected electron microscopy, researchers at the Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory and their colleagues have obtained the first images that distinguish individual light atoms such as boron, carbon, nitrogen and oxygen. ORNL researcher Stephen J. Pennycook explains.
- Confluence Solar and ORNL to team up
Jan 31, 2010 - Scientists at Oak Ridge National Laboratory know there's enough energy from the sun to go around. "More energy is delivered in an hour by the sun than the world uses in a year," says ORNL Solar Technologies Program Manager Chad Duty. The trick is capturing that energy and effectively converting it from solar to electric. That's what Confluence Solar will do.
