Chad Edward Duty |

Research Interests: Dr. Duty is currently the Solar Technologies Program Manager at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory and also serves as the Director of Technology for the Tennessee Solar Institute. Following his undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from Virginia Tech in 1997, Chad received his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Georgia Tech in 2001. After working for Lockheed Martin on the C-5 Galaxy, he came to ORNL as a Wigner Fellow in 2004. Dr. Duty’s research has focused on the use of high intensity plasma arc lamps for the Pulse Thermal Processing (PTP) of various thin films, semiconductors, and photovoltaic materials. In his management role, Chad has promoted the research, development, and deployment of solar technologies to reduce the cost of solar energy. |
