High Temperature Gas Separation Membranes

ORNL robust and corrosion resistant membranes are highly permeable and are capable of operating at temperatures up to 700°C and pressures >40 bar. ORNL composite membranes fabricated from a variety of materials including ceramic oxides, high temperature polymers and zeolites can be advantageously utilized to perform many selective gas separations such as those involving H2, CO2, He, H2O, CH4, and N2. High permselectivity ORNL membranes can also increase the efficiency of catalytic reactions that are equilibrium limited through selective gas transport.
