More wins DOE Hydrogen and Fuel Cells Program R&D Award
ORNL Today, May 20, 2013 - Karren L. More of the Materials S&T Division has received the 2013 DOE Hydrogen and Fuel Cells Program R&D Award in recognition of outstanding achievements in leading ORNL's project on Microstructural Characterization of Fuel Cell Materials and in her role as a subcontractor on multiple DOE-funded fuel cell R&D projects.

Lin to receive Honor Medal of Aurel Stodola
ORNL Today, May 20, 2013 - D r. Hua-Tay Lin, of ORNL's Materials Science and Technology Division, has been selected to receive the 2013 Honor Medal of Aurel Stodola by the Slovak Academy of Sciences. Lin is being recognized for his research activities and significant contributions in sciences on high temperature mechanical behavior of ceramics and composites.

Mar. 26, 2013 - As part of the Obama Administration's commitment to revitalizing America's manufacturing sector, today the Energy Department launched the Clean Energy Manufacturing Initiative (CEMI), a new Department initiative focused on growing American manufacturing of clean energy products and boosting U.S. competitiveness through major improvements in manufacturing energy productivity.

Citation: For excellence in engineering materials research leading to (1) timely identification of irradiation-induced segregation and phase instabilities in candidate structural refractory alloys for critical application to the DOE Space Reactor Program, and (2) development of high performance cast stainless steel for critical application to the International Tokamak Experimental Reactor (ITER)
