Mr. Ludwig leads the Transportation Technologies Group and Packaging and is Transportation Project Manager supporting the Department of Energy’s Fissile Materials Disposition Program. He is a nuclear engineer with 20 years of professional experience as a Project Manager, Principal Investigator, and Research Engineer in the fields on nuclear reactor analysis, shielding, hazardous material regulation, routing, risk assessment, and package design. He is an expert in the field of radionuclide inventory assessment using the ORIGEN2 computer code, for which he serves as technical contact for users worldwide. He is also an expert in transportation and packaging of radioactive materials, and has performed a wide variety of transportation tasks during his career, including transportation risk assessments, shielding and dose analyses, and fissile material packaging design. He has also served as a consultant to the IAEA in Vienna, Austria. Mr. Ludwig has exceptional written and verbal communication skills, as demonstrated by over 50 publications (as lead or co-author), 30 technical presentations, and 12 papers published in conference proceedings. Mr. Ludwig also holds an Active DOE "Q" security clearance.
