Important Information for ORNL Visitors

The Visitor Services Office prepares a daily list of visitors for the Protective Force personnel, which is finalized by 4:30 p.m. EST on the preceding day. Your host or sponsor will submit your name to that list. Upon your arrival at one of the Bethel Valley Road entrance stations, have some form of picture identification ready for the Protective Force officers so that they can quickly confirm you with the list.  If you are a foreign national (including personnel with DOE badges), please be prepared to provide your visa and passport information.  If you have a DOE badge you should be able to pass through the entrance station without any problems.  Should you need any assistance, please contact Jan Anderson or Joyce Echols at 865-241-5422 or 865-806-0318.

Once verified, you will be issued a Temporary Entry Pass, which authorizes you to travel from the entrance to the ORNL Visitor Center.  For this meeting, you will be badged in the ORNL Conference Center, not the Visitor Center.  Follow the signs directly to the ORNL Conference Center (the ORNL Conference Center is in the same bldg as the ORNL Visitor Center) to receive an ORNL proximity card and a visitor ID.

Parking:  We have reserved a total of 30 parking spots for the attendees at this meeting.  These parking spots will be marked ORELA Workshop, and they are located in front of the ORNL Conference Center.  The attached map (labeled map5th) has the ORNL Visitor Center, parking lot, and alternate parking lot.  The second map (labeled main campus) is a more detailed map with building numbers.

Detour note, summer 2005: Construction at the main entrance during the summer of 2005 necessitates a detour route to the Visitor Center through the ORNL Campus. To reach the Visitors Center parking area, visitors will enter the campus at the Fifth Street entrance (west of the Visitor Center entrance), turn left onto Central Avenue and left again where Central Avenue ends at the Research Support Center. Follow the map, which you will receive at the first vehicle entrance, and follow the signs to the Visitor Center. At certain times of the day pedestrian traffic is heavy along the detour route, so please drive carefully.

Some of the functions available at the ORNL Conference Center are:

Wireless internet
Desk workstations with dial-up internet access
Telephone stations available (phone card is needed for long-distance service)
Cell phones are permitted in the ORELA Workshop meeting areas

Secretarial support will be provided during the NDAG, CSEWG, and ORELA Workshop meetings
