Chemical and Physical
Principles in Multiphase Separations
This project is sponsored by the Division of Chemical
Sciences, Office of Basic Energy Sciences, Office of Energy Research, of the U. S.
Department of Energy.
The purpose of this program is to investigate transport processes in multiphase
separations, and means for enhancing them using electromagnetic fields. Several topics
under study are aimed toward this purpose, including:
- electrically driven methods to generate surface area and
mixing for enhanced transport
- interactions of weakly magnetic particles in magnetic fields
- development of new methods for simulation of multiphase
flows
Highlights:
Inverse Electrostatic Spraying
Drop Oscillations
Magnetic Separations
