Roy Dar was born in Singapore and he was raised in the United
States. He received his undergraduate degree in Physics and
Mathematics (B.Sc.) from the Hebrew
University of Jerusalem, Israel (HUJI) in 2004. He is currently
pursuing his graduate studies in Biological Physics at the
University of Tennessee under the direction of Dr. Michael
Simpson.
Roy's research interests lie in the principles of how stochastic
processes associated with gene expression result in emerging
biological function. In particular, he is interested in the
experimental measurements of stochastic fluctuations to elucidate
underlying gene circuit structure and function as well as the
development of experimental techniques for quantifying biological
systems and with which resulting emergent phenomena can provide
a discovery-driven approach to modeling biology.
During his spare time, Roy enjoys art, dancing, music, and
sports.
