DARPA Digital Manufacturing, Analysis, Correlation and Estimation (DMACE) Challenge

ORNL recently utilized electron beam melting technology to fabricate hollow mesh spheres for the DARPA Digital Manufacturing, Analysis, Correlation and Estimation (DMACE) Challenge to demonstrate that models could be utilized to accurately predict the mechanical properties of complex structures based on machine parameters. The challenge created a first repository of open-source data for digital manufacturing and increased the exposure and benefits of digital manufacturing, with a turnaround time of eight weeks.
