What is available?

In addition to the general information and documentation on this website, you may download, without registering, a sample dataset derived from the LandScan^TM Dataset. Please see below for obtaining access to the actual data. An overview of this process is also available as a flow chart for your convenience.

Who can have access?

LandScan^TM Dataset licenses are available free of charge for U.S. Federal Government, for United Nations Humanitarian efforts, and educational research use. Educational research is considered by U.S. to include K-12 schools, colleges, and universities. Commercial license fees are determined on a case-by-case basis.

How is access obtained?

All users must register to access the data sets. Please see the Registration page for more information. For educational (K-12, universities, and colleges), U. S. Federal Government, and United Nations humanitarian users, Click here for the LandScan Registration and Data Access Process Document.  This document will help you complete the registration form, obtain your username and password, and gain access to the LandScan Data.
