Research Experience and Interests
Mr. Tomar joined the Geographic Information Science and Technology Group at ORNL in January 2011. He is presently working as a software developer on the BioKDF project.
Before joining the GIST group, Mr. Tomar worked as a Web Developer for Kaplan Financial Education in La Crosse, Wisconsin maintaining and building MVC based LAMP tools and website functionalities. Prior to Kaplan, he worked for Cisco Systems in Austin, Texas as a software developer on datacenter product developing XML/SNMP/SOAP based services on the LAMP platform. He has also worked at a VoIP software services firm, XCast Labs Inc. (previously GlobalTouch Telecom) in Chicago developing database driven web based tools in Java, PHP for PBX, Softphones and IP Telephony services running on SIP/UDP. Mr. Tomar also worked at an ISP and telecom service provider based in New Delhi, India developing/maintaining voice application services in UNIX with database tools and client/server technologies.
Mr. Tomar has an overall experience of eight years in the software/telecommunications industry. His areas of expertise include Web Application development, VoIP solutions, telecom and software engineering. His technical capabilities include proficiency in multiple programming languages, cross platform technologies and open source tools.
