Research Experience and Interests
Ms. Samu joined the Geographic Information Science and Technology group in May 2008. Her current work includes validation and verification of LandScan USA data, GIS modeling of business travel and tourist populations, and imagery analysis and data collection to support several other projects.
Prior to joining the GIST group Ms. Samu became a member of the Student Conservation Association and participated in fieldwork for the Great Smoky Mountains National Park Service, worked as an undergraduate research assistant for the Laboratory of Tree-Ring Science at the University of Tennessee, and traveled abroad to study the geography and culture of China.
Ms. Samu’s primary focus at Oak Ridge National Laboratory is on spatial analysis/modeling of static and dynamic population distributions. Other research interests of hers include biogeography and natural resource conservation.
