Research Experience and Interests
Dr. Omitaomu joined the Geographic Information Science and Technology group at ORNL in October 2006. His current projects include Citizen Engagement for Energy Efficient Communities (CoNNECT), Oak Ridge Siting Analysis for Power Generation Expansion (OR-SAGE), Energy Awareness and Resiliency Standardized Services (EARSS), Modeling Solar Energy Potential on Building Rooftops (Visual-SOLAR), and Global Transmission Atlas.
He has published or co-published 4 books, 7 book chapters, more than 30 journal papers/conference proceedings, and more than 25 conference abstracts/presentations. He is also an Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Tennessee. Prior to joining the GIST group, Dr. Omitaomu was a Post-doctoral Fellow at McMaster University. He also has more than 5 years industry experience as a project engineer with Mobil Producing Nigeria.
Dr. Omitaomu is a member of the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE), Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS), and IEEE. His research expertise includes energy systems modeling and applications, decision analysis for home energy management, applications of statistical and intelligent techniques to sensor-based systems, and modeling infrastructure risk and resilience.
