Research Experience and Interests
Dr. Omitaomu joined the Geographic Information Science and Technology group at ORNL in October 2006. His current research includes modeling and analyzing energy consumption, energy informatics for smart communities, optimal design of renewable energy portfolio, analytics for emergency responders, and real-time data mining application to synchrophasors.
Prior to joining the GIST group, Dr. Omitaomu was a Post-doctoral Fellow at McMaster University. He also has more than 5 years experience as a project engineer in the oil and gas industry. He has published in several journals including IEEE Transactions, Pattern Recognition, and ASME Journals. He is the coeditor of Knowledge Discovery from Sensor Data (CRC, January 2009).
Dr. Omitaomu is a member of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS), Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE) and IEEE. His research expertise include statistical analysis and data mining, signal processing and machine learning, systems modeling and decision analysis, disaster preparedness and emergency response. His application areas include energy and sustainability, smart grid, physical systems and critical infrastructure, and national security.
