Research Experience and Interests
Mr. Movva joined the Geographic Information Science and Technology (GIST) group at ORNL in November of 2010. His current role within GIST is in the development of Bioenergy Knowledge Discovery Framework.
Prior to joining the GIST group, Mr. Movva was a Research Scientist at the Information Technology and Systems Center, University of Alabama in Huntsville. He has over ten years of experience building metadata and semantic integration applications for Earth Sciences. He is the primary designer for Noesis – a semantic based search tool; and Talkoot – a software appliance used to build collaborative Earth Science portals for analysis workflows. He is a major contributor in the research and development of Earth Science Markup Language, an XML based data interchange standard used by NASA. His experience also spans building multi-agent systems and data-mining tools for computational grids and cluster environments.
Mr. Movva’s areas of expertise include design and development of applications for semantic metadata integration, semantic search engines, collaborative frameworks, data mining in distributed environments, analysis workflows and orchestration. He is proficient in a variety of programming languages and developed software libraries and applications that are used by many organizations.
