Research Experience and Interests

Ms. Morton initially joined the Geographic Information Science and Technology (GIST) group at ORNL in June 2012 as a Higher Education Research Experiences (HERE) Fellow and became a Research Associate in September 2012. She is currently involved in projects including software development for data mining and visualization and statistical analysis and model development for population density estimation and uncertainty quantification.

Prior to joining the GIST group, Ms. Morton worked as a Data Analyst for Southern California Edison and a Research Fellow for NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). At JPL, she conducted research in uncertainty quantification and implemented statistical model validation techniques to validate spacecraft structural vibration models.

Ms. Morton specializes in mathematical modeling, simulation, data mining, and statistical analysis. She is especially interested in uncertainty quantification, sensitivity analysis, and the applications of hierarchical Bayesian methods for modeling spatiotemporal processes.
