Research Experience and Interests

Mr. Jochem joined the Geographic Information Science and Technology group in August 2007.  His current work includes validation and verification of LandScan USA data, GIS modeling of site suitability for nuclear reactors, modeling airport passenger traffic, and imagery analysis and data collection to support several other projects.  He is also part of the GIST group’s emergency preparation and response team for DOE.

Prior to joining the GIST group Mr. Jochem conducted fieldwork and worked as an undergraduate student and research assistant in the Department of Geography on a variety of projects and with the Moche Origins Project on Peruvian archaeology.

Mr. Jochem’s research interests include geographic information science and remote sensing in the areas of spatial analysis/modeling and population.  He combines knowledge of ArcGIS with a technical background, programming in several languages and with ArcObjects.
