Research Experience and Interests
Mr. Getman joined the Geographic Information Science and Technology group at ORNL in May of 2005. His current responsibilities include: lead software architect for the SensorNet Program and the design and development of web-based and server side GIS applications for several other ORNL projects.
Prior to joining the GIST group, Mr. Getman worked at GIS and engineering firms and focused his efforts on Department of Homeland Security and Department of Defense projects. His experience includes the design and development of both traditional and geographic information systems, geospatial data management, database design, user interface development, and the performance of geospatial analysis in support of environmental impact assessment, drug trafficking interdiction, and aircraft and marine vessel tracking.
Mr. Getman’s areas of expertise include remotely sensed image analysis, spatial statistical analysis, data interoperability, and spatial information system design and development. His technical capabilities include proficiency in a variety of programming languages, data integration methodologies, database software, and geographic information systems software.
